Back to the roots, for a new start

About 10 months will have passed since our first departure in January 2022 for a European tour. In our mind, it was supposed to be a warm-up tour, so to speak, to tame our vehicle, to release the pressure accumulated these last few months and then, to apprehend this new way of life, this nomadic life that we really didn't know at all.

We had never had a camper and rarely had our vacations been completely itinerant. And there, it was a discovery on all levels and I must admit, not as easy as we had imagined.

With hindsight now, we see more clearly, we look at everything we went through during these months on the road. And the adaptation was long for us. Between mechanical worries, apprehending the daily logistics of searching for the evening drop-off points, the supply of water, gasoline, foodstuffs, the observation of the weather, the discovery and setting up of the family instruction, without counting the organization of the visits, with research of points of interest, this new life was not of any rest. It may seem surprising, or even inappropriate to express it this way! It is possible, however, this is how we lived it, as intensely as each new discovery.

At the very least, for us, this adaptation lasted a good 4 months, and our Romanian break was salutary! It allowed us to take a break in this effervescence of changes of all kinds and it allowed us to review our priorities! We wanted a change of life to take time, but a part of us, wanting to do everything, has the impression to run again. We decided to visit less and to spend more time on each stop, to not have this feeling of running anymore.

It must be said that the logistics of filling the water tanks for example required us one hour, and to have previously located the possible places or not, upstream (And still, it depended on the flow of the water point...)

In short, we know now that we are adapted to slow travel!

And then, we discovered how to live in a house on wheels, but a certain thirst for adventure is not yet completely satisfied. So, the decision is taken, we will change our vehicle, for a smaller one, and which will allow us to live more outside, and of course, rather in hot countries.

We discovered, understood and accepted that plans change when we travel, and finally, this also suits us very well. In fact, we even loved this idea and as the change around here, we like it, we go for it!

So, our Sterne is for sale, we are preparing our next one, which will be a T3 combi, but not just any one, a synchro, because we love off-roading!

We become sedentary again for 5 months, the children return to the school. It is true that they missed their friends a little! No problem, we fill up and we leave.

Departure planned for April 2023, with a T 3 combi, roof tent, direction Africa or Asia, according to what the road will reserve us. And we take advantage of the family, of the friends, and the old habits which return to the gallop, we have a lot of fun of it!
